Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Cecil Cooke!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Buby Jay!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Shigeki Sano and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jay throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Cooke tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jay is in Cooke's guard.
Cooke will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jay throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Cooke works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Jay stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cooke swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jay's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Cooke has an active guard here but Jay has managed to pass into half guard.
Jay controlling the action here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
That's one minute gone in the round.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Jay shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Jay is working for a kimura but Cooke is defending it quite comfortably.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jay with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Jay missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Jay looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Cooke trying to control here.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jay passes the guard and advances to mount!
Jay takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Jay is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Cooke can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Cooke takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Cooke is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jay tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Jay lands with some strikes.
Cooke wants to control but Jay is having none of it.
Jay lands a big shot there that rocks Cooke but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Cooke is rocked!
Jay cracks Cooke with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Buby Jay!
