Malnik manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Downs on his heels. He'll look to pass Downs's guard now, I'm sure.
Malnik controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Downs keeping full guard, as Malnik tries to pass.

Downs has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Malnik can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Malnik works over Downs with some ground and pound from guard.
Malnik must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Malnik is working Downs over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Malnik is stalling in the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Downs wants to stand up but Malnik is controlling him.

Downs has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Malnik doesn't defend quickly enough and Downs has managed to lock this one up! Can Malnik escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Downs on a fantastic submission victory.
