PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Diego Trevino (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tai Doodle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Diego Trevino!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tai Doodle!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Anni Minnemäki and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Doodle shoots in and gets a takedown into Trevino's guard.

Trevino is looking for a triangle but Doodle pushes his legs off easily.

Trevino working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Doodle doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Doodle manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Trevino is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Trevino has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Doodle has passed into side control.
Doodle scores with a couple of short elbows.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Trevino is on top in guard.

Trevino moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Doodle really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Trevino. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Trevino has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Doodle uses from the top position.

Doodle got a little sloppy there for a moment and Trevino has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Doodle has managed to get both his arms back between Trevino's legs - danger averted.

Doodle drops back looking for a leg! Trevino is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Trevino manages to kick Doodle off! Doodle jumps back into Trevino's guard.

Trevino will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Trevino is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Doodle is aware though and is defending well.
Doodle must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Trevino has his foot on Doodle's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Doodle works his way back into a safe position though.

That was a close second round but I would say that Diego Trevino will probably get the nod.

A kick lands to the mid section there for Doodle.

Oooooh!!! Doodle has knocked Trevino down with a huge combo! Doodle steps away and waves a wobbly Trevino back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

It looks like Diego Trevino has been cut.
Diego Trevino is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Trevino fails to land the takedown.
Doodle is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Trevino with a body shot.
Oh Trevino is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Doodle dives in and gets a big takedown. He lands in full mount and immediately unloads a series of heavy strikes! Trevino has had enough and taps out.
