Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Karl Eddard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Somal Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Karl Eddard had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Karl Eddard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Somal Lee!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Paul Gruel and Micheangelo Fripello.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eddard lands with a shot to the body.
Lee displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Eddard.
Lee looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Eddard is fending him off so far but Lee persists. Nope, Eddard circles away and we're back to standing.
Eddard scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Lee has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Eddard is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Eddard lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Eddard ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Eddard throws the left hand but Lee avoids the punch easily.
Eddard looks to score with a jab to the body but Lee is just out of range.
Eddard fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Karl Eddard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lee throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Eddard's waist but Eddard gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lee off to one side.

Lee is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Eddard's half guard.

Lee misses with a takedown attempt - Eddard sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Karl Eddard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Somal Lee.
Lee rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Eddard moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Eddard wants to lay and pray for a moment but Lee keeps working.

You can see the frustration on Lee's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Lee is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Eddard has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Eddard creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Lee sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Lee parries the strikes from Eddard easily there. Eddard is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Lee to escape.
Eddard slows the pace down.
Lee prevents Eddard from improving position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Eddard misses with an uppercut. Lee saw that one coming.
Eddard throws an overhand right that lands on Lee's shoulder, as Lee tries to avoid the shot.
Lee with the counter takedown but Eddard avoids it easily.
Somal Lee is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Eddard.
Lee shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Eddard but Eddard pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Lee shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Eddard as he jumps to the side.

Eddard goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Eddard's jab looks to have found its range, popping Lee under the eye.
Horrible takedown attempt by Eddard or perhaps it was just good defense by Lee, which made it look bad.

Eddard ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Lee moves away.

Lee drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Eddard defends it well.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Lee, as that shot connected.

Lee shoots in for a takedown but Eddard shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Despite the aggression on Lee's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Eddard feints and as Lee raises his hands in defense, Eddard changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lee is trying to control the position but Eddard postures up.
Eddard has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Lee slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Lee sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Eddard's guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Lee wants to take a breather but Eddard is having none of it.
Eddard wants to control but Lee is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The fighters are battling for position here. Eddard manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lee slips nicely into half guard.
Eddard has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lee is working away from the top position though.
Lee scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Lee is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Lee looking to control but Eddard is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Eddard is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Lee trying to control but Eddard is having none of it.
Lee lands a heavy elbow.
Eddard is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Lee has taken his back.
I really don't envy Eddard right now.

Lee working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Eddard is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Lee has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Eddard taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Somal Lee!
Somal Lee decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
