PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Paul Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Crazy Dog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Smith kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is call to prayer. Dog has chosen Beat It as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Crazy Dog struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 136.0lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 35 - 21 - 2, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Crazy Dog!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, William Gold and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith throws the left hand but Dog avoids the punch easily.
Dog lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Smith circles away quickly and effectively.
Smith moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Dog cracks Smith with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Smith throws a chopping leg kick but Dog manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Dog tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Smith defends well and Dog ends up having to push Smith into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Smith throws an overhand right that lands on Dog's shoulder, as Dog tries to avoid the shot.
Dog lands with a hook. Smith tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Dog lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Smith throws a leg kick that is checked
and Dog counters with a three punch combo that has Smith backing up. Smith nods at Dog to acknowledge the strikes.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Smith gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Dog wants to pass the guard but Smith is keeping the position.

Smith manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Dog manages to get himself to full guard.

Smith is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at GTI that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

Dog postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Dog avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Smith bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Dog's head backwards.

That was a close second round but I would say that Paul Smith will probably get the nod.

Crazy Dog has got the better of the ground game so far.

Smith is pressed up against the cage. Dog has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Smith down to the mat. Smith avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Smith fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Dog avoids it really well and circles away.
And Dog tries to counter it with a takedown but Smith pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Dog drops his hands momentarily and Smith takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Crazy Dog is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Dog lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Smith moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
