Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Angelo Giles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vitor Belfidus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vitor Belfidus has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Angelo Giles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Vitor Belfidus!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Paul Aken and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Belfidus shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Belfidus showed some decent athleticism there.
Giles really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Belfidus thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Giles's head.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Belfidus is keen to just control but Giles is a slippery customer.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Giles is looking for a sweep. Belfidus is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Giles has Belfidus pulled in close to control his posture.
Giles continues to stall.
Giles will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Belfidus thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Belfidus feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Giles looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Belfidus puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Still in half guard, Belfidus seems content to control.

Belfidus postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Giles to stand up.
Giles tries to close the distance and clinch but Belfidus swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

As Belfidus tries to get set, Giles tries to push him back and clinch up but Belfidus manages to avoid the attempt.

Giles closes the distance and pushes Belfidus back into the cage.
Belfidus on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Belfidus breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Belfidus tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Giles manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Belfidus throws a head kick that misses

and Giles decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Belfidus's guard.

Giles takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Giles is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Giles is trying to maintain the position but Belfidus is very close to passing his half guard.

Belfidus drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Giles dives on top into guard.

Giles takes the fight into the clinch.

Belfidus manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Giles drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Belfidus manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Giles has Belfidus in his guard.

Belfidus stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Giles swivels though and keeps the full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Giles has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Giles wants to sweep but no luck.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Belfidus closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Giles's guard.
Belfidus wants to control from the top but Giles keeps moving.
Belfidus must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Belfidus accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Giles seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Belfidus shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Belfidus has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Belfidus is just content to waste time from the top position. Giles takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Vitor Belfidus comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Belfidus has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
