The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wills throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Joe Wills seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Wills decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Wills controlling the action here.
Woods pushes Wills off looking to stand but Wills dives back in and keeps control.
Wills wants to take a breather but Woods is having none of it.
Woods is trying to stand.

Wills is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Wills stops Woods from getting back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Wills is working for a submission of some sort.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Woods is looking to clinch but Wills is avoiding it.

Wills moves into the clinch.

Wills pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Wills pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Woods throws out a loose jab but Wills uses good head movement to avoid it.
And Wills tries to counter it with a takedown but Woods pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Woods clobbers Wills with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Woods lunges at Wills with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Wills's hand.

Wills looking to score a takedown here. Woods is defending well but Wills drives through and ends up in Woods's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Woods working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Wills.
Wills prevents Woods from getting back to his feet.

Woods looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Woods wants to stand but Wills is controlling the position.

Woods wriggles free and stands up.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Wills drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Wills is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Woods is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Wills frees his head nicely. Oh but Woods has switched to an armbar! Wills is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
