The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hopkins moves into range and lands a nice body kick.

Hopkins connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

It looked like Govatos was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Hopkins.
Govatos's legs have taken a beating and he's really slowing down as a result.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Hopkins checks a leg kick.
Govatos is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.
Govatos does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Hopkins throws a leg kick but Govatos sees it coming and checks it nicely.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Govatos uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hopkins.
Govatos misses with a series of wild punches.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hopkins lands with an uppercut that bounces Govatos off the cage and back into range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Govatos looks to land a left hand but Hopkins moved out of range nicely.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Hopkins.
Hopkins has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The fighters circle momentarily. Hopkins darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

And Hopkins responds with a good body kick, but Govatos manages to step out the way in time.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hopkins feints and then cracks Govatos's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Govatos down.
Hopkins stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Govatos keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
