Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dennis Turcotte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chuck Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dennis Turcotte!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chuck Penn!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turcotte shoots in looking for a takedown. Penn tries to sprawl out of it but Turcotte keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Penn manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Turcotte avoids the head kick by Penn.
Penn takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Penn will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Turcotte drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Turcotte looking to sit in guard and control but Penn gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Turcotte is on top in guard.
Turcotte wants to control from the top but Penn keeps moving.
Turcotte looking to pass the guard.

Penn throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Penn throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Turcotte escapes and throws Penn's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Turcotte goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Penn has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Turcotte but great work by Penn.
Turcotte regains half guard.

Penn is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Turcotte tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Penn has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Turcotte is trying to reverse the position but instead Penn has taken his back - oops!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Turcotte tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Penn is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Turcotte has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Turcotte!

Turcotte avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Penn is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Turcotte looking to pass the guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Turcotte decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Penn, up you get!
Penn tries a head kick but it misses.
Penn pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Turcotte gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Penn tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Penn tries to pull guard but Turcotte won't allow it.
Dennis Turcotte has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chuck Penn.

Turcotte escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Penn tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Turcotte paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Turcotte misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Turcotte decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Penn looks gassed!
Turcotte passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Penn!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dennis Turcotte dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Penn throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Penn plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Turcotte swinging wilding here.
Penn with a poor takedown

and Turcotte decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Penn's guard.
Turcotte passes into half guard.
Turcotte is stalling here. Penn is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Turcotte seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Penn has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Turcotte manages to get back to half guard.
Turcotte slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Penn tries to stand but Turcotte is controlling from the bottom.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Turcotte manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Penn is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Penn bucks up and throws Turcotte to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Turcotte tries to clinch up.
Dennis Turcotte is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Penn throws a sloppy head kick

and Turcotte moves into the clinch.

Turcotte breaks from the clinch.
A head kick misses from Penn.
Chuck Penn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Penn doesn't manage to clinch there - Turcotte circles away.
A head kick by Penn misses

and Turcotte counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Penn's guard now.

Turcotte gets to his feet. Penn looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Turcotte gets a clinch.
Turcotte looking to stall.
Penn wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Turcotte has him pressed against the cage.

Penn breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Turcotte avoids the head kick by Penn.

Turcotte feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Turcotte stays in close to Penn's body and controls the position.
Turcotte trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Turcotte trying to move into half guard but instead Penn has managed to sweep!
Turcotte looking to hit a scissor sweep but Penn is one step ahead there.

Penn is pushing down on Turcotte's leg trying to pass to half guard. Turcotte is fighting to maintain full guard but Penn has managed to sneak the leg through.

Penn is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Turcotte defends it well.
Turcotte wants to get back to full guard but Penn has mounted him!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dennis Turcotte dominated that second round.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


A head kick misses from Penn.
Penn pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Turcotte clinches up against the cage.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Penn as Turcotte tries to tie him up.
Penn tries to pull guard but Turcotte holds him up against the cage and eventually Penn drops back down to his feet.
Penn tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Turcotte smiles and moves away.
Nice sprawl there from Turcotte as Penn shoots in.

Turcotte forces Penn back against the cage and clinches.
Turcotte cracks Penn with a nice body shot.
Penn wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Turcotte lands a nice shot to the body.
Turcotte just leaning against Penn, taking a breather.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Turcotte breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Turcotte moves in looking to clinch but Penn pushes him off.
Penn tries to clinch but Turcotte moves out of range.
Turcotte pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Turcotte slips a jab and a cross from Penn.

Turcotte looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Turcotte is looking to work some ground and pound but Penn has wrist control.

Turcotte postures up and lands a big shot to Penn's brow.

Penn looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Turcotte passes into side control.
Turcotte advances to mount.
Turcotte moves to the back position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Turcotte tightening his grip on Penn, looking for the choke.

Penn preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Turcotte.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Penn is trying to stand back up.
Turcotte throwing strikes and Penn squirms under the pressure, ending up mounted.
Turcotte working the ground and pound effectively.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Penn avoids a series of strikes thrown by Turcotte.

Turcotte swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Penn is now in Turcotte's guard. A big mistake from Turcotte there, giving up the dominant position!
Dennis Turcotte overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Penn drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Penn jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Dennis Turcotte is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Penn decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

And that's the end of the fight!
Dennis Turcotte showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Turcotte has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
