The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones stuffs the takedown.
Jones throws a right hand that Mathis ducks under and follows up with a left that Mathis also avoids with ease.

Jones falls off balance throwing a combination
so Mathis counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Mathis stands up from Jones's guard - Mathis perhaps looking for a knockout.
Jones misses with a double jab.
Mathis has managed to clinch.
Mathis pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jones gets tackled into the cage by Mathis. Mathis maintains the clinch.
Jones wants to break the clinch but can't.
Mathis keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Jones's efforts to push away.

A frustrated look appears on Jones's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Jones is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Mathis pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jones throws a series of punches but Mathis avoids them all with ease.
Jones throws a right and a left that Mathis avoids nicely.
Mathis misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Jones throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Mathis tries to counter with a takedown but Jones is quick to defend against it.
Mathis loads up on a big right hand but Jones slips the punch.
Mathis missing with a left hand there. Jones was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mathis lands an overhand right.
Mathis shoots in looking for a takedown but Jones manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Mathis's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Jones throws a right and a left that Mathis avoids nicely.
Jones lands a left and a right that send Mathis crashing to the mat, dazed. Jones thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Mathis is rocked!
It looks like Levi Mathis has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jones cracks Mathis's jaw with two stiff jabs then ducks low and throws a soul-severing right uppercut to the mouth!! Mathis slumps to the ground with blood on his lips. The referee steps in before Jones can do further damage! This one is done, son!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Mike Jones!
