Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Owens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joao Vito (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vito fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Owens avoids it really well and circles away.
Vito tries to clinch up.
Owens misses with a wild body shot.
Owens lands with an uppercut that bounces Vito off the cage and back into range.
Owens clinches up with Vito and pushes him back against the cage.
Owens could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Vito tries to score a body lock takedown but Owens shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Vito fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Johnny Owens has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joao Vito.

Vito is trying to pull guard but Owens turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Owens tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Vito is working for takedown but Owens is calmly controlling the position for now.
A frustrated look appears on Vito's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Still in the clinch, Owens scores with a nice short uppercut.
Vito tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Owens just stands there and leans against the cage.

Vito jumps into guard, dragging Owens to the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Vito lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Vito controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Owens avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Owens is wriggling around but Vito manages to pass to half guard.

Vito's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Vito seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
A bone on bone clash there as Owens blocks the leg kick.
Owens lands with an overhand left.

Vito tries a knee to the head but Owens blocks it.
Owens lands a nice shot to the body.

Vito tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Owens smiles and moves away.
Vito goes for a double leg but Owens avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Owens continues to drive forward.
Owens is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Owens lands a really nice looking cross but Vito seems unphased.
Vito takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Owens pushes Vito up against the cage in a clinch.

Vito tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Vito has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Owens will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Vito is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Vito works his foot free and advances to mount.

Owens wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Vito.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Vito throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Owens because Vito loaded up on that one.
Joao Vito has got the better of the ground game so far.
Owens tries to control Vito's body but Vito pushes him off. Owens squirms to his side and now Vito has his back!

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Owens just trying to survive but Vito is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Vito is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Owens is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

As Owens backs off Vito throws a huge counter combo but Owens manages to avoid it all.
The crowd cheers as Owens lands an impressive looking overhand right. Vito doesn't seem phased though.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Vito darts in looking for a takedown but Owens gets double underhooks and turns Vito into the cage.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Vito takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
