PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Benjamin James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alf Stewart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alf Stewart told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Benjamin James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alf Stewart!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Chris Dean and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Stewart sends James crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Stewart is motioning to the referee to let James up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!


It looks like Benjamin James has been cut.
James tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Stewart takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
James lands with a nice combination. Stewart backs away looking to recover.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Stewart takes the fight into the clinch.
Stewart has James pressed against the cage, preventing James from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Stewart trying to land knees to the body.
Stewart lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
A frustrated look appears on James's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Stewart's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
James dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Stewart. That did some damage!
Some wild striking there from James.
Stewart will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
James misses with a hook.
Stewart lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
James takes a shot right to the bread basket.

That's one minute gone in the round.
James swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A slapping body kick lands there for James.
James throws a lazy body kick
and Stewart counters with a three punch combo that has James backing up. James nods at Stewart to acknowledge the strikes.
Stewart bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
James throws a right hand that Stewart ducks under and follows up with a left that Stewart also avoids with ease.
Stewart smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.


James is rocked!
James throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Oh James is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
A jab from James misses.
Stewart cracks James with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends James tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Stewart pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! James is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alf Stewart!
