PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Mike Pounder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Bob Savage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Pounder!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Billy Bob Savage!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pounder shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Pounder jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Savage looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Savage scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Savage fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Savage changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Savage enables Pounder to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Savage manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Savage avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Pounder won't allow Savage to sweep him here.
Savage is controlling Pounder's posture.
Pounder wants to control from the top but Savage keeps moving.
Pounder is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Savage is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Savage has Pounder pulled in close to control his posture.

Savage is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Pounder takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Pounder takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Savage lands a lovely overhand right.

and Savage counters with a nice uppercut.

Pounder is really struggling to control Savage but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Savage tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Savage is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Pounder is one step ahead and moves to full mount!

Pounder is trying to take his opponent's back.
Pounder can't control as he wanted to and Savage manages to get the fight back to his half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Savage tries to roll over but Pounder keeps him under control.
Pounder wants to control but Savage is keeping him busy.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Savage scores with a punch to the head.
Savage lands a right hook to the body.
Savage connects with a body shot that sends Pounder's belly button to the back.
Savage thuds a left hand into Pounder's body.
Good exchange - Savage coming out on top.
Savage jabs at Pounder's body.
A decent looking cross lands there for Savage.
Pounder walks into a left hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Billy Bob Savage dominated that round.

A shot to the liver by Savage. Beautiful body shot.
Savage throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Pounder on the side of the head.
Savage jabs Pounder to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Pounder looks for a takedown but Savage sprawls well.
Savage lands a jab.
Savage jabs Pounder right on the nose. Pounder blinks but takes it well.

and Savage counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pounder takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Savage stuffs the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mike Pounder. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Savage clinches with his opponent.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pounder goes for a takedown in the clinch but Savage prevents it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Savage lands an uppercut.
Savage lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Pounder has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Savage is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Savage lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Pounder backwards.
Savage lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Pounder prevents Savage from breaking the clinch.
Savage wants to get back to striking at distance but Pounder won't allow it.
Savage is looking to break free of the clinch but Pounder has double underhooks.

Savage digs a right hand into Pounder's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Pounder's gas tank.
Pounder keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Savage's efforts to push away.
Pounder has Savage pressed against the cage, preventing Savage from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Savage lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Pounder backwards.

Savage is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Savage is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Savage throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Pounders head.
Savage tries to break the clinch but Pounder is controlling the position.
Savage is trying to force a seperation but Pounder has the dominant position.
Savage lands a body punch.

Pounder turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Pounder manages to end up in side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Pounder walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Savage listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

Savage has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Savage cracks Pounder with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Pounder looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Savage finish him?


Pounder is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Savage drops a shoulder and throws a monster hook that connects perfectly to the side of Pounder's head, knocking him out cold! Savage is extatic as he celebrates with his cornermen.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:37 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Billy Bob Savage!
A relieved looking Billy Bob Savage thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
