PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kurokawa Kenji (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Black Belt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Kurokawa Kenji has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 43 - 22 - 0, fighting out of London, Kurokawa Kenji!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 16 - 0, fighting out of London, Black Belt!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Daniel Bishop and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Kenji misses the target.
Belt changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kenji tries to avoid it but Belt manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kenji to the ground. Kenji escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Kenji fires out a quick counter leg kick but Belt just manages to avoid it.
Kenji seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Belt tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Belt working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Belt sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Belt has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Belt is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Kenji has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Kenji!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Kenji wants to pass the guard but Belt is keeping the position.

That was a close round but I would say that Kurokawa Kenji will probably get the nod.

Kenji shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Belt is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.

Kenji clobbers Belt with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Belt grinds an elbow into Kenji's temple.
Belt sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Kenji is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Belt creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Kenji sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Kenji dodges the ground and pound from Belt.

Black Belt has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Belt tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Belt has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

And that's the end of the fight!
Kurokawa Kenji showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Kenji, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
