Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Omer Short!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Alf Stewart!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Chris Dean and Francis DeMontford.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stewart shoots in but Short avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Stewart swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Short counters by clinching up.
Short wants a takedown.
Short misses with a hook to the ribs.
Short keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Stewart's efforts to push away.
Stewart effectively controlling the action here.
Short tries to pull guard but Stewart holds him up against the cage and eventually Short drops back down to his feet.
Short misses with a hook from the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stewart tries to break the clinch but Short is controlling the position.
Short throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Stewart blocks it with crossed arms.
Stewart scores with a shot to the side of Short's head.
Short has had enough of the clinch but Stewart keeps him there for the moment.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Stewart drags the fight down to the ground.
Short has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Stewart wants to stand but Short is controlling the position.
Short slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Short prevents Stewart from getting back to his feet.

Stewart is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Short presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Stewart jumps guard.

Stewart wriggles free and stands up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Short looks to land a left hand but Stewart moved out of range nicely.
Stewart clobbers Short with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.


It looks like Omer Short has been cut.
Short doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Short takes one to the side of the head.


Short is rocked!
Stewart fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Oh Short is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Short is breathing heavily.

Stewart closes the distance and pushes Short back into the cage.

Stewart escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Short circles to his right, straight into a beautiful hook by Stewart. Short falls face first into the canvas - great knockout victory for Stewart!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:32 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Alf Stewart!
