PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodrigo Gambol (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carter comes into the arena with This Fire Burns blaring out of the sound system. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jack Carter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rodrigo Gambol!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Michael Johnstone and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gambol lands a jab to the nose.
Carter's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Gambol connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Carter scrambles back to his feet.
Carter fails with a takedown attempt.
Gambol lands with a hook. Carter tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Gambol pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Carter back to the cage. Gambol follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Carter swings for the body but Gambol moves out of range.

Carter gets tackled into the cage by Gambol. Gambol maintains the clinch.
Carter stalling in the clinch but Gambol improves position.
Gambol trying to land knees to the body.
Gambol lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Carter backwards.
Carter looking to slow down the pace here.
Gambol lands a right hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Carter is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Gambol is defending well.

Carter jumps guard.
Carter managing to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Gambol sitting in guard here, content to control.
Gambol really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Carter. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Gambol's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Carter is controlling Gambol's posture.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Gambol looking to sit in guard and control but Carter gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Gambol pulls Carter in close to prevent any damage.
Carter passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Gambol tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Carter wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Gambol is pushing Carter's head away, looking to escape. Carter manages to hold on to the position though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Gambol is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Carter's leg. Oh but that's left an opportunity for Carter! He's got an arm triangle... it looks tight! He's rotating and Gambol has tapped! This one is allllll over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:10 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Jack Carter!
In his post fight interview, Jack Carter started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
