Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ronnie Putnam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Preuss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Putnam comes into the arena with tap out blaring out of the sound system. Ronnie Putnam has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ronnie Putnam!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alex Preuss!
The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Preuss throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
As Preuss tries to get set, Putnam tries to push him back and clinch up but Preuss manages to avoid the attempt.

Putnam manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Preuss on his heels. He'll look to pass Preuss's guard now, I'm sure.
Preuss is trying to keep Putnam in close.
Putnam content to stall in guard here.
Putnam has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Putnam has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Preuss is working an open guard so Putnam takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Preuss tries to get to full guard but Putnam has control of the leg.
Putnam is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Putnam seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Preuss for as long as he can get away with.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Putnam shoots for a takedown but Preuss saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Putnam shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Preuss misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Putnam moves out of range of the leg kick from Preuss.
Preuss keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Preuss throws a right and a left that both miss.
Preuss swings widly with a right hand

and Putnam counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Putnam is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Preuss can do to turn this around?

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Preuss is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Putnam closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Putnam breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Preuss falls off balance throwing a combination

and Putnam holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Putnam tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Preuss just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ronnie Putnam. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Preuss misses with the head strike.
Putnam blocking some punches.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Putnam.
Putnam is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Preuss gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Preuss tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Putnam manages to get underhooks and slows down the pace for a moment.
Preuss prevents Putnam from breaking the clinch.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Preuss is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Putnam is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Preuss is defending well.

Preuss escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


A nice leg kick lands there from Preuss.
Preuss looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Preuss throws a low kick but Putnam avoids it.
Putnam avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Preuss goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Putnam fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Preuss connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Putnam moves out of range of the leg kick from Preuss.

Putnam clinches with his opponent.

Putnam has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Preuss regains guard immediately.
Putnam pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Preuss is keeping the position for now.
Putnam controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Putnam is pushing down on Preuss's leg trying to pass to half guard. Preuss is fighting to maintain full guard but Putnam has managed to sneak the leg through.

Putnam is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Putnam checks a leg kick.
Preuss throws a leg kick that misses.
Preuss throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Putnam.

Sloppy strikes from Preuss. Those never looked like landing.

Putnam works his way into side control.
Alex Preuss has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Putnam, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
