PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Borce Kocev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kev Moody (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Borce Kocev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kev Moody!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, David Hoff and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kocev tries for a takedown but Moody sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Kocev clinches up with Moody and pushes him back against the cage.
Kocev is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Kocev tries to pull guard but Moody holds him up against the cage and eventually Kocev drops back down to his feet.

Moody has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Kocev uses from the top position.

Kocev will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Moody wants to stand and escape but Kocev is having none of it.

Kocev walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Moody checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Kocev shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Moody as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Borce Kocev. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Kocev fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Moody avoids it really well and circles away.

and Moody counters with a straight right hand.
Kocev darts in looking for a takedown but Moody gets double underhooks and turns Kocev into the cage.

Moody manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Kocev on his heels. He'll look to pass Kocev's guard now, I'm sure.
Moody seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Moody sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kocev's guard.
Moody tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Kocev is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Moody's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Moody's back!
Moody rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Moody is controlling Kocev's trapped leg to prevent Kocev from advancing to side control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Kocev thows a huge punch but Moody dodges it nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Kocev dives in and grabs Moody's left leg, looking for a takedown. Moody pushes down on Kocev's head and hops out.

Moody slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Moody has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Moody wants to pass the guard but Kocev is keeping the position.

Kocev knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Moody on the ground.

Moody lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Kocev is desperately trying to improve his position but Moody has a good base and remains in mount.

Moody lands a couple of good shots and Kocev has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Moody is not going to allow Kocev to sit and survive in this position.
Moody is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish.

Kocev is trying to remain composed but Moody is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.

Moody is hanging on to Kocev's back as he tries to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kocev covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.

Moody is persistently looking for the submission but Kocev is defending it well.

Kev Moody showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!

Moody closes the distance and pushes Kocev back into the cage.

Kocev shoots in and bounces Moody off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Moody wants to stand up but Kocev is controlling him.

Kocev is fighting to break Moody's control of his arms but Moody is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Kocev prevents Moody from getting back to his feet.
Moody is trying to keep Kocev in close.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Kocev closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Moody quickly recovers to half guard.
Kocev is trying to control the action in half guard but Moody is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Moody wants to control but Kocev is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Moody is staying active underneath Kocev, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Moody shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Kocev wants to get back to full guard.
Moody is taking a breather. Kocev says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Moody takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Kocev is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Moody is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kocev is just riding it out for now. Moody eventually gives up the hold.

Moody seems to be working for a kimura but Kocev defends the submission attempt.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kev Moody comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Moody has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
