Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dirk Ratliff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brandon Owens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Owens has taken the fight to the clinch.
Ratliff is working for takedown but Owens is calmly controlling the position for now.
Owens with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Owens on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Ratliff throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Owens slowing the pace effectively.
Ratliff tries for a takedown but Owens manages to get underhooks.

Ratliff gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Owens regains guard.
Ratliff will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Owens is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Owens is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Ratliff dives into side control.
Owens is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Ratliff is controlling him well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Owens managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Ratliff.
Owens pushes Ratliff away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Ratliff gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Ratliff could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Owens rushes Ratliff and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Ratliff knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Owens on the ground.
Owens wants to pass the guard but Ratliff is keeping the position.

Owens works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Owens is nestled in close to Ratliff, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Ratliff is staying active underneath Owens, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Owens is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Ratliff is rocked!
Owens is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Ratliff is hurt! He's hurt bad - Owens fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Ratliff from any more punishment! Congratulations to Owens! Great finish!
