The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Turner cracks Chen with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Chen shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Turner looks to score with a jab to the body but Chen is just out of range.
Chen throws a lazy head kick
and Turner connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Turner lands a right hook to the body.
Turner throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Steven Turner seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Chen fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Chen drives through and clinches with Turner against the cage.

Chen buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Turner is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Chen.
Turner leaves Chen with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Chen dives in and grabs Turner's left leg, looking for a takedown. Turner pushes down on Chen's head and hops out.
Turner keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Turner looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Chen throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Turner swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Turner wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Chen jumps guard but Turner stands there with Chen around his waist. Chen gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Turner bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Chen's head backwards.

Turner moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Turner stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Chen looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.

Turner feints a jab promting Chen to slip. Turner then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Chen slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Turner is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

Turner drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Chen dives on top into guard.

Turner is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Turner stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Chen to get to his feet.
