Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ethan Rivera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Carlos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Ethan Rivera!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Juan Carlos!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Phil Schofield and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Carlos closes the distance and clinches.
The referee calls for Rivera to work.

Carlos breaks from the clinch.
Rivera could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Carlos darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Rivera is looking to improve his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carlos tries to stand and escape but Rivera is controlling the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rivera is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Rivera trying to control from the bottom.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Rivera is looking for a sweep. Carlos is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Rivera gets back to full guard.

Rivera has his foot on Carlos's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Carlos works his way back into a safe position though.
Carlos is looking to stand up but Rivera won't let him.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Rivera gets tackled into the cage by Carlos. Carlos maintains the clinch.
Rivera drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Carlos manages to pull guard.
Rivera trying to control but Carlos is working from the bottom.
Rivera controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Rivera has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Carlos keeping moving, preventing Rivera from controlling successfully.
Rivera's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Rivera throws the left hand but Carlos avoids the punch easily.

Carlos feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Rivera is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Rivera manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Carlos manages to get himself to full guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Carlos keeping moving, preventing Rivera from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Juan Carlos dominated that round.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Rivera swings widly with a right hand

and Carlos counters with a takedown into side control.

Carlos stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Carlos dives in and scores a takedown into Rivera's guard.

Rivera pushes Carlos off and scrambles back to his feet.

Carlos is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Rivera's half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Rivera wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Rivera looking for submissions off his back.
Rivera wants to get back to full guard.
Rivera is working hard here to advance position.
Rivera wants to get back to his feet.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Carlos fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Rivera, pushing him back against the cage.

Carlos escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Rivera gets caught flat footed, as Carlos shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Rivera is trying to keep Carlos in close.

Rivera working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Carlos doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Carlos manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Rivera is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Carlos must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Carlos would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Rivera is trying to keep Carlos in close.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Carlos tries to close the distance and clinch up but Rivera swats him away and circles back towards the center.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Carlos forces Rivera back against the cage and clinches.
Rivera has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Carlos is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Carlos breaks the clinch.

Carlos drives through and clinches with Rivera against the cage.
Rivera tries to break free but Carlos pushes him back against the cage.
Carlos pushes Rivera back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Rivera wants the takedown. Carlos is fighting it off but Rivera persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Carlos's guard against the cage.
Rivera stops Carlos from standing up.
Carlos really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rivera. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Carlos is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Juan Carlos showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Carlos moves out of range as Rivera strikes.

Carlos closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Rivera's guard.
Carlos has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Rivera wants to sweep but no luck.

Rivera is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Carlos presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Rivera has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Carlos clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Rivera has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Carlos has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Carlos looking very determined here, making life difficult for Rivera.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Carlos won't enjoy being in this position. Rivera looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Carlos is tapping - it's over boys! Rivera picks up the submission victory!
