The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
MCconnor misses with a right hand
and Doyle counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Nice shot lands for Doyle.
Doyle avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Doyle swats away the attempt to clinch by MCconnor.
MCconnor tries to clinch but Doyle is having none of it.
Doyle feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits MCconnors jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Doyle tries to land a front kick but MCconnor steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Doyle looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
MCconnor jabbing away but nothing is landing.
MCconnor has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Doyle.
Doyle dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
MCconnor fails with an attempt to clinch.
Doyle ducks down and throws a hook to the body but MCconnor moves away.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that MCconnor has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Doyle fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt MCconnor.

Doyle connects with a good right hand that stumbles MCconnor. MCconnor circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

MCconnor pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Doyle takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Doyle lands a big uppercut and MCconnor crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but MCconnor looks OK. Doyle waves MCconnor back to his feet!
MCconnor is still on wobbly legs! Can Doyle finish him?
Doyle ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Doyle sends MCconnor crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Doyle is motioning to the referee to let MCconnor up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

and Doyle goes for a counter takedown and lands it with interest - it's knocked his opponent senseless! It looks like Doyle 's shoulder did the damage as the two fighters hit the mat.
