PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Francis Dux (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hans Aben (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Radbod Blank and Aafke Stam.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed right hand from Aben misses the target.
Aben throws a leg kick but Dux checks it.
Aben lands with a shot to the body.
Some bone on bone action there as Dux checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.

Aben darts in and clinches Dux up against the cage.
Aben creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Aben tries to throw a body punch but Dux avoids it by throwing Aben back against the cage.
Aben scores with a shot to the side of Dux's head.
Aben lands a right hand that snaps the head of Dux backwards.
Dux has had enough of the clinch but Aben keeps him there for the moment.

Dux shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Aben sprawls well. Aben wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dux gets slowly back to his feet.
Dux will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Dux pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Aben back to the cage. Dux follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

and Aben counters with a good, hard body kick but Dux shrugs it off.

and Aben makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Francis Dux seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Aben throws a half hearted mid kick.
Aben throws the kick towards the body but Dux avoids it.
Aben does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Aben fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Dux is out of range.

Aben drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

That's time! Dux's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Dux changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Aben tries to avoid it but Dux manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Aben to the ground. Aben escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Dux is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Hans Aben showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Dux is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Aben pulls his head out easily.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Dux shoots for a takedown but Aben saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Dux shoots for a double leg takedown but Aben sprawls well. He's pushed Dux's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Francis Dux. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Aben bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Hans Aben comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Aben has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
