The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McClane lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
BigBranch steps to the side to avoid the strikes from McClane.

BigBranch manages to get an easy takedown there - catching McClane on his heels. He'll look to pass McClane's guard now, I'm sure.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
BigBranch tries to pass the half guard into mount. McClane knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
McClane is doing well to control the position and prevent BigBranch from advancing to side control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
BigBranch tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but McClane paws at him with a jab and circles away.
McClane throws an uppercut from half a mile away. BigBranch sees it coming and avoids it easily.
BigBranch connects with a solid leg kick.
McClane misses with a low kick as BigBranch jumps back.

so BigBranch counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
BigBranch has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
BigBranch stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McClane swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
BigBranch makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
McClane manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. BigBranch manages to get himself to full guard.

McClane throws an elbow that misses. BigBranch uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in McClane's guard. Nice move by BigBranch!

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as BigBranch accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
BigBranch is looking to work some ground and pound but McClane has wrist control.
McClane is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

BigBranch is really struggling to control McClane but he's trying to hold on to the position.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from BigBranch lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and McClane has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from McClane and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

McClane will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

McClane tries to keep at a distance but BigBranch has taken the fight into the clinch.
BigBranch lands a left hand that snaps the head of McClane backwards.

McClane is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. BigBranch is defending well for now.

BigBranch has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed McClane clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
McClane has his hands over his head blocking the strikes from BigBranch.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

McClane has hold of BigBranch's arm. He needs to escape this position sooner or later but for now he's happy enough to control the position and prevent the submission attempts.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
