PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kirigaya Kazuto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akira Hayabusa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hayabusa comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Bombs Away by Bob kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hayabusa decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Hayabusa passes to side control.
Hayabusa works to advance to full mount. Kazuto defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Hayabusa wants to take Kazuto's back here but Kazuto is holding on to an arm, himself looking to escape.
Kazuto on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kazuto tries to get out of the position.
Kazuto wants to hold on but Hayabusa pushes him away.

Hayabusa looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Kazuto tries to hold on but Hayabusa postures up.
Hayabusa tries to control but Kazuto wriggling away.
Kazuto tries to lock up and control but Hayabusa gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Hayabusa is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Kazuto can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Kazuto is looking to get to half guard.
Hayabusa landing punches.

Hayabusa has hold of Kazuto's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Kazuto manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Kazuto knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hayabusa on the ground.
Hayabusa forces the positional change into back control.
Kazuto prevents Hayabusa from getting a body triangle.

My spies in Tōshi inform me that Hayabusa has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
I really don't envy Kazuto right now.

Kazuto is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Hayabusa gets his way!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Kazuto is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Hayabusa.
