PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Rex Trujillo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rodrigo Rojas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rex Trujillo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rodrigo Rojas!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Seu Braga and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rojas drives through with a takedown into Trujillo's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Trujillo gets caught napping as Rojas dives in and scores a takedown. Trujillo manages to retain guard.
Trujillo really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Trujillo is trying to control the position but Rojas postures up.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Trujillo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Rojas tries to avoid it but Trujillo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Rojas to the ground. Rojas escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Rodrigo Rojas showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Rojas closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Trujillo did well to prevent Rojas getting side control.

Rojas tries to clinch there but Trujillo circles away.

Rojas throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Trujillo was covering up waiting for the punch and Rojas finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Rojas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Trujillo doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Trujillo manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Rojas can do anything to dispel that myth.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Rojas looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Trujillo has picked Rojas up and slammed him! Rojas can't keep hold of the triangle and Trujillo manages to pass to side control!

Well Rojas has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
