Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jason Wright (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Wayne McGain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wayne McGain has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Jason Wright's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jason Wright!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Wayne McGain!
The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Dirk Anderson and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Wright.
McGain shoots in for a takedown but Wright shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Wright moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
A jab from Wright finds it's way through McGain's defenses.


McGain is rocked!

Wright closes the distance and clinches.
McGain is still on wobbly legs! Can Wright finish him?
McGain has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Wright after a bit of a struggle.
McGain seems to have recovered his senses.
Wright changes levels and goes for a takedown here. McGain fights it off and pushes away nicely.
McGain tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Wright defends well and McGain ends up having to push Wright into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Jason Wright has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wayne McGain.
McGain looks winded!

Wright's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Wright looks to score with a jab to the body but McGain is just out of range.

McGain manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Wright forces his way into half guard.
McGain wants to get back to full guard.
Wright missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Wright trying to control the action but McGain is working from the bottom.
McGain is looking for a sweep. Wright is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Wright wants to pass the guard but McGain is defending well.
Wright is trying to control the action in half guard but McGain is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wright thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Wright content to control rather than advance.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Wright wants to take a breather but McGain is having none of it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
No luck with that takedown attempt from McGain.
Wright scores to the head and body with a nice combination!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wright misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Wright closes the distance and clinches up with McGain, looking for a takedown. Wright pushes McGain against the cage but McGain circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
McGain displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Wright.
Wright changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. McGain tries to avoid it but Wright manages to keep hold of a leg and drag McGain to the ground. McGain escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Wright shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as McGain sprawls well. McGain wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Wright gets slowly back to his feet.

Wright has McGain up against the cage in a clinch.

Wright pulls guard successfully.

Wright throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
McGain passes Wright's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
McGain trying to control the action but Wright is working from the bottom.
Wright tries to get to full guard but McGain has control of the leg.
McGain tries to pass to full mount but Wright defends it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
McGain is trying to control. Wright wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jason Wright dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


McGain avoids the body shot from Wright.
Wright shoots in looking for a takedown. McGain tries to sprawl out of it but Wright keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. McGain manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Wright tries to clinch but McGain is having none of it.
Wright shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with McGain but McGain pushes him off and we're back to square one.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and McGain counters with a nice double leg into side control. Wright won't be happy with that.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jason Wright. That's going to take a lot out of him.
McGain in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Wright is looking to reverse the position.
McGain is breathing heavily.

Wright is working hard here to advance position.
McGain wants to lay and pray for a moment but Wright keeps working.

McGain tries for a kimura but Wright is defending well.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Wright tries to improve position but can't.
Wright is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on McGain's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
McGain works his way into side control.
Wayne McGain has got the better of the ground game so far.
You can see the frustration on Wright's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Wright is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, McGain asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Wright tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Wright tries to roll but McGain sticks to his back.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

McGain is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Wright is defending well though. McGain let's go of the attempt for now.
Wright rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Wright is trying to maintain the position but McGain is very close to passing his half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Wright pushes McGain off looking to stand but McGain dives back in and keeps control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wayne McGain showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Wright scores with a sloppy right hand. McGain should have avoided that one.
Wright looks for a takedown but McGain sprawls well.
McGain circles away from the clinch attempt.

McGain tries to keep at a distance but Wright has taken the fight into the clinch.

McGain lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Wright wants to control but McGain is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Wright is refusing to be controlled, as McGain sits in half guard.
McGain takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Wright trying to get back to full guard but McGain takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

Wright wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Wright is trying to remain composed but McGain is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.
McGain not allowing Wright to control his hands.
You can see the frustration on Wright's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McGain doesn't have the hooks in and Wright manages to turn into his guard.
Wright won't allow McGain to sweep him here.
Wright is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Wright trying to control but McGain is working from the bottom.
Wright trying to stand up but can't free himself from McGain's guard.
Wright forces his way into half guard.

Wright is looking for a kimura but McGain is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Wright to get the leverage.
Wright is thwarting McGain's attempts to control the position.

McGain is pressing down on Wright's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Wright decides to stand back up. Wright steps back and let's McGain get back to his feet.

The fight stays on the outside here - Wright looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Wright misses with a series of wild punches.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Wayne McGain.
I think McGain has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
