The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Paradeda shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Cardenas's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Paradeda looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Paradeda distracts Cardenas with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Paradeda wants to pass the guard but Cardenas is keeping the position.

Cardenas escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Paradeda gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Cardenas tries to buck Paradeda off but Paradeda is having none of it.

Paradeda connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Cardenas some visible discomfort.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Cardenas enables Paradeda to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Cardenas manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Fernando Paradeda showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well Paradeda has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
