PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Michael Count (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bruce Brady (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Michael Count!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Bruce Brady!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, William Gold and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brady walks into a jab.
Michael Count seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Count catches Brady with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Brady stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Count.
Nice jab there from Count.
Count looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Count goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Count cracks Brady with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Count misses with a hook.
An inside leg kick from Count misses.
Brady takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Count misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Count works Brady's body with a nice hook.
A cross from Count lands.
Brady takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Count connects with a leg kick. Brady looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Count defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Brady.
Brady blocks a head kick by Count.

Count connects with a jab.
Brady showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Count.
Count takes a swing at Brady's ribcage but misses.
Count is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Brady will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Brady takes a kick to the side of the head.
Count tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Brady is able to avoid easily.
Count tries to bum rush Brady with a series of wild strikes but Brady uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
The fighters circle momentarily. Count darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Count lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Count throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Count throws a leg kick which misses Brady's front leg but catches the back leg as Brady tries to avoid it.
Count chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Count slaps away a takedown attempt from Brady, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Michael Count has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bruce Brady.
Count changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Brady uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Count.
Count lands a head kick. Brady smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Count lands with a good body shot.
Count tries a head kick but it misses.
Count throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Brady sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Count throws a body punch but Brady moves out of range.
Count scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Count takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Count falls off balance throwing a combination

and Brady counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Brady tries to free his leg and advance position but Count is retaining full guard.

Brady works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Brady is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Count defends it well.
Brady is pressing down on Count's thigh, looking to free his foot. Count is holding on for now.
Count looks like he's trying to stand up.

Brady is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Brady is working for a submission of some sort.

Brady is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Count defends it well.

Count won't allow Brady to pass to mount.

Count is defending against the submission attempts here by Brady.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Brady looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Brady wants to lay and pray for a moment but Count keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Michael Count dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Brady closes the distance and clinches up with Count, looking for a takedown. Brady pushes Count against the cage but Count circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Count turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Count scores with a body shot.
Count throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Brady sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Brady ducks right into an uppercut from Count.
Count pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Brady blocks a head kick by Count.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Count, as that shot connected.
Brady shoots in and drives through. Count sprawls well.
Count dips to his left and cracks Brady with an uppercut!

Count looks to land a combination but Brady avoids it well.
Count misses with a low kick.
Count throws a leg kick which misses Brady's front leg but catches the back leg as Brady tries to avoid it.

Brady avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Count pivots, looking for a leg kick but Brady is out of range and Count settles back down.
Count pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Count scores with a hook.
Brady keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A nice leg kick lands there from Count.
Brady on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Count. Count obviously looking to wear him down.
Brady shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Brady's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Count jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Count feints and then cracks Brady's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Brady down.

Michael Count is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Count wants to land a leg kick but Brady is out of range.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Brady fails to land the takedown.
Count scores with a head kick. Brady tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.

Count lands a jab to Brady's midsection.
Count pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Brady takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

Count scores with a shot to the body.
Some bone on bone action there as Brady checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Brady shoots for a double leg takedown but Count sprawls well. He's pushed Brady's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Count is looking to chop away at Brady's legs.
Count tries to land a leg kick but Brady saw it coming and moves away.
A head kick misses from Count.
Count is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Brady can do to turn this around?

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Brady misses with a takedown attempt - Count sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Count throws a right hand that Brady ducks under and follows up with a left that Brady also avoids with ease.

Count with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Count lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Count takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Count changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Count thows a left - swing and a miss!
A nice inside leg kick there by Count. That's going to slow Brady down.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Count is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Brady.
Count fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Count throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Brady stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Count throws a hook but Brady blocks it.

Brady uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Count.
Count attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.

Brady closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Count's guard.
Brady wants to pass the guard but Count is keeping the position.
Count keeping moving, preventing Brady from controlling successfully.
Brady stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Count swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Brady sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Count's guard.

Brady is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Count is just riding it out for now. Brady eventually gives up the hold.
Count knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Brady on the ground.

Brady seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Count is holding on tight.

Brady is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Count has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Count!
Brady is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Brady escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Count gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Michael Count is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Brady looking for a sweep. Not yet Brady, not yet.

Brady has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Count can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Count is pushing down on Brady's leg trying to pass to half guard. Brady is fighting to maintain full guard but Count has managed to sneak the leg through.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Brady wants to improve his position but Count is controlling well.

Brady actively working from the bottom here.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Michael Count.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Count, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
