The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Good exchange - Torton coming out on top.
Torton cracks Monson with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Jab, jab by Torton - just one landing.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Torton throws a hook but Monson avoids it easily.
Torton throws a jab but it's blocked by Monson.
Torton bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Monson's head backwards.
Torton has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Torton loads up on a big right hand but Monson slips the punch.
Torton connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Nice takedown defense from Torton. No joy for Monson on that attempt.
Torton throws a hook but Monson blocks it.
Nice defenses there by Monson.
Monson with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Torton to score with a decent uppercut.
Torton is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Monson.
Monson takes one to the chin there.
Torton throws a shot from downtown. Monson moves away and avoids it.

Monson fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Monson shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jeff Monson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Torton lands a jab.
Torton looks to land a right hand but Monson moved out of range.
Torton stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Torton wants it to stay on the feet.
Torton lands a jab to the head.
Monson fails with the takedown.
Monson is breathing heavily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Monson closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Monson looks for a takedown but Torton sprawls well.
Monson ducks right into an uppercut from Torton.

Monson switches off momentarily and Torton cracks him with a monster right hand! Monson topples backwards and makes a semi conscious attempt to cover up, as Torton dives in to land one more shot, before the referee has time to call the fight. What a finish by Torton!
