Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Spencer Pennington (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Usama Khan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Spencer Pennington!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Usama Khan!
The judges for this bout are Chris Dean, Hugh Johnson and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pennington scores with a takedown into Khan's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Pennington loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Khan wriggles free and stands up.
Khan tries to clinch but Pennington is having none of it.
Khan shoots and misses

and Pennington counters by clinching up.
Pennington tries to throw a body punch but Khan avoids it by throwing Pennington back against the cage.
Khan is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Pennington is looking to control Khan's arms but Khan gets an underhook and turns him. Now Pennington has his back to the cage.
Khan wants a takedown.
Pennington tries to pull guard but Khan forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Pennington pulls guard successfully.
Pennington is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Pennington lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Khan is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Pennington scores with a couple of nice shots.
Pennington looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Khan with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Khan wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Pennington with shots to the head and body - Khan looks very uncomfortable down there.
Pennington will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Pennington has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Khan's face.
Khan wants to hold on but Pennington pushes him away.

Pennington fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Pennington cracks Khan with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The referee warns Khan that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Pennington avoids the attempt from Khan to control.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Khan is looking to improve his position but Pennington isn't that keen on the idea.
Khan tries to buck Pennington off but he can't manage it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pennington closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Khan is looking for a sweep. Pennington is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Pennington misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!


Pennington throws a body punch but Khan moves out of range.
Khan shoots in for a takedown but Pennington shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Spencer Pennington has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Usama Khan.

Pennington manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Pennington bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Khan's guard.

Khan looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Pennington has picked Khan up and slammed him! Khan can't keep hold of the triangle and Pennington manages to pass to side control!

Khan takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Pennington has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Khan is trying desperately to improve position.
Pennington is landing with some decent strikes but Khan is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Pennington really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Khan is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Pennington lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pennington, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
