The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mccormick is looking to clinch.
Tari tried to score with a low kick but Mccormick checks it.
Tari fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Mccormick, pushing him back against the cage.
Tari jumps guard but Mccormick stands there with Tari around his waist. Tari gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Tari tries to pull guard but Mccormick forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Tari pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Mccormick tries to close the distance and clinch up but Tari swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Mccormick is looking to clinch but Tari is avoiding it.
Mccormick checks a leg kick nicely.
Mccormick forces Tari back against the cage and clinches.
Tari wants a takedown but no success here.
Asa Mccormick has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Mert Tan Tari.

Tari is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Tari throws a head kick that misses.
Mert Tan Tari seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Tari counters with a series of strikes. Mccormick will be more careful next time no doubt.

Horrible takedown attempt by Tari or perhaps it was just good defense by Mccormick, which made it look bad.
Tari smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Mert Tan Tari hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Tari shoots in for a takedown but Mccormick shows good takedown defense.

Tari drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mccormick defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Tari's arms.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
