PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bambang Jdey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Saif Rasheed (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bambang Jdey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Saif Rasheed!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Konstantin Menshow and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Rasheed gets a clinch.
Jdey tries to pull guard but Rasheed holds him up against the cage and eventually Jdey drops back down to his feet.
Rasheed is trying to pull guard but Jdey has him pressed against the cage.

Rasheed gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Jdey regains guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Jdey wants to control but Rasheed passes easily into half guard.
Rasheed is figuring out what he wants to do next.

Jdey looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Rasheed wants to pass the guard but Jdey is defending well.

Rasheed stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Jdey to get to his feet.

Jdey throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

Rasheed looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Rasheed passes Jdey's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Rasheed is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Jdey is just riding it out for now. Rasheed eventually gives up the hold.

Rasheed is thwarting Jdey's attempts to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Rasheed connects with a nice short shot to Jdey's temple.

Rasheed is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jdey has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Rasheed is working away from the top position though.
Rasheed content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Rasheed looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Jdey with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Jdey is not content to let Rasheed control the position.
Jdey on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rasheed takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Rasheed throwing shots but Jdey is blocking nicely.
Jdey flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

Rasheed escapes and gets back to his feet.

Rasheed looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Rasheed postures up and lands a big shot to Jdey's brow.
Rasheed showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Jdey doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Rasheed throwing strikes but missing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Saif Rasheed dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


A big right from Rasheed misses.

Rasheed looking to score a takedown here. Jdey is defending well but Rasheed drives through and ends up in Jdey's guard.

and Rasheed counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Jdey wants to control but Rasheed is keeping busy.

Rasheed has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Rasheed postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Jdey to stand up.
Rasheed avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Rasheed takes the fight into the clinch.
A head punch on the inside from Jdey fails to land.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Rasheed gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rasheed wants to pass the guard but Jdey is defending well.
Jdey on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Rasheed perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Rasheed scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Jdey is looking for a sweep. Rasheed is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Rasheed postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Jdey to stand up.
Bambang Jdey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Jdey with a lazy takedown attempt

and Rasheed counters with a nice double leg into side control. Jdey won't be happy with that.
Rasheed scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Jdey to see if he's OK.

Rasheed working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Rasheed in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Rasheed wants to control but Jdey is keeping him busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Saif Rasheed showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Jdey's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Rasheed is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Jdey!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A big strike lands for Rasheed! That's really hurt Jdey and he's turned his back - Rasheed keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Rasheed jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
