Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ramon Case (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Yews (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Yews is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: In Flames - Crawl Through Knives. Paul Yews will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ramon Case!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Paul Yews!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Topper Green and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Yews as Case shoots in.
Yews fails with an attempt to clinch.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Yews turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Yews looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Case can't do much from the bottom here.
Case gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Yews trying to control from half guard but Case is working away.

Yews seems to be looking for submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Case trying to hold on to Yews's head to control him but Yews postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Case is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Case really is a fat lump.
Case is working hard here to advance position.
Case trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Yews manages to pass to mount!
Case flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.

Yews stands up from mount. Strange move.

Case avoids the head kick by Yews.
Case tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Yews defends well and Case ends up having to push Yews into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Yews has picked Case up - he's going for a ride! Yews dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Yews gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Yews darts in trying to clinch

and Case counters with a takedown into side control.
Case looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Yews is avoiding damage well.
Yews wants to control but Case postures up.

Case tries for a kimura but Yews is defending well.
Yews is trying to work for a sweep but Case has mounted him!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Yews tries to control Case's body but Case pushes him off. Yews squirms to his side and now Case has his back!

Case has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Yews has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Yews prevents Case from getting a body triangle.

Yews trying to control the hands but Case won't let him.
Case is trying to control but Yews is trying to escape here - he's now mounted.
Yews bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Case is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Case tries to strike from the bottom.

Case is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Yews is aware though and is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ramon Case will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Case closes the distance and clinches up with Yews, looking for a takedown. Case pushes Yews against the cage but Yews circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Case changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Yews looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Case throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Case stands up and beckons Yews to his feet.

Yews shoots in and bounces Case off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Yews gets to his feet. Case looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Yews darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Case looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Yews wants to work for an arm triangle but Case is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Yews decides to stand up.

Case tries to keep at a distance but Yews has taken the fight into the clinch.
Yews is looking to break free of the clinch but Case has double underhooks.

Case breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Case tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Yews paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Paul Yews is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

The fight stays on the outside here - Case looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Yews gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Yews gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Yews trying to control from half guard but Case is working away.

Yews is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Case is just riding it out for now. Yews eventually gives up the hold.

Case has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Yews is working away from the top position though.

Yews is looking for a kimura but Case is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Yews to get the leverage.

Yews lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Yews prevents Case from breaking the clinch.

Yews decides to pull guard.
Yews pulls Case in close to prevent any damage.
Case trying to control but Yews is working from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Paul Yews showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Yews is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Case will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Case might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Case fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Case really is built like a bowling ball. I wonder if he'd roll if you pushed him down a hill...

Yews fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Case to the ground. Yews is now in Case's guard.

Case isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Yews stacks Case on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Yews!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Yews decides to stand back up.
Yews misses with a head kick.
Yews tries to clinch but Case moves out of range.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Both guys are working to get underhooks.
Yews is trying to push Case away but Case has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Case manages to break the clinch.

Yews tries to close the distance and clinch up but Case swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Yews shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Case is trying to defend but Yews finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Yews is just content to waste time from the top position. Case takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Case throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Paul Yews comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Yews has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
