Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Donald McTavish!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, John The Iron!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Iron shoots in for a takedown but McTavish shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
The Iron fails with an attempt to clinch.

The Iron shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. McTavish is trying to defend but The Iron finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The Iron is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
The Iron stays in close to McTavish's body and controls the position.
The Iron throws a big elbow that misses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The Iron throwing strikes from guard but McTavish blocks nicely.
The Iron told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

The Iron postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! McTavish is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of The Iron, into his guard.

The Iron wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
The Iron is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McTavish is looking to stand up but The Iron won't let him.
The Iron looking to hit a scissor sweep but McTavish is one step ahead there.
The Iron has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

McTavish decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
McTavish throws a lazy uppercut

and The Iron counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by The Iron.
The Iron trying to control but McTavish is working from the bottom.

The Iron sitting in guard here, content to control.
The Iron stops McTavish from standing up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The Iron stands and throws McTavish's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The Iron cracks McTavish with an elbow. That is naaassty.
The Iron landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
The Iron working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
The Iron working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

The Iron staying calm.
McTavish is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

The Iron tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no The Iron has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
McTavish tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

McTavish wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
The Iron looking to control but McTavish is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
McTavish squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

The Iron has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! McTavish is forced to tap!
