PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Leonel Lutsky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and White Goodman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). White Goodman told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Leonel Lutsky!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 28 - 11 - 1, fighting out of New York, White Goodman!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Dean Styles and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A looping hook to the body misses from Goodman. Lutsky does a little dance to reset his feet.

Goodman shoots in and bounces Lutsky off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Goodman is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Goodman tries a head kick but it misses.
Lutsky lands a glancing blow to the side of Goodman's head.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Goodman throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lutsky's waist but Lutsky gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Goodman off to one side.
Goodman just misses with a punch to the body.
Lutsky misses with an uppercut. Goodman saw that one coming.
Leonel Lutsky is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Lutsky takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Lutsky buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Lutsky bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Goodman's head backwards.

Lutsky misses with an uppercut. Goodman saw that one coming.

Lutsky cracks Goodman with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Lutsky is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Goodman is looking to take a break and control but Lutsky is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Lutsky is doing well to control the position and prevent Goodman from advancing to side control.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Goodman is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Lutsky has managed to free his arm - good work.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Goodman throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Lutsky throws a low kick but it's checked well by Goodman.

Lutsky swings for the body but Goodman moves out of range.

Goodman scores with a hook to the body. Lutsky takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Lutsky smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Lutsky throws a jab but it's blocked by Goodman.

Lutsky throws a shot from downtown. Goodman moves away and avoids it.
Goodman lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Lutsky bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Lutsky lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
No joy there for Goodman, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Lutsky rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Goodman moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Lutsky is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Goodman can do to turn this around?

Goodman shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Lutsky manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Lutsky seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
Goodman stays in close to Lutsky's body and controls the position.
Goodman stands and throws Lutsky's legs to the side, diving into side control.

You can see the frustration on Lutsky's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Goodman drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Goodman jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
My spies in River's Edge Gym, LOP inform me that Goodman has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Goodman changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Lutsky looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Goodman swings around for an armbar but Lutsky sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Goodman's guard.
Goodman takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Goodman bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Lutsky's guard.
