PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Bjorn Bogart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Penn Reyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bogart comes into the arena with "Dutch National Anthem" by Het Wilhelmus blaring out of the sound system. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bjorn Bogart!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joe Penn Reyes!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Paul Aken and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bogart dives in and grabs Reyes's left leg, looking for a takedown. Reyes pushes down on Bogart's head and hops out.
Jeez, both these guys look absolutely knackered already, that's not a good sign!

Bogart shoots in and bounces Reyes off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Bogart thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Reyes looking for a sweep. Not yet Reyes, not yet.
Reyes seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Bogart passes into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bogart is looking to stall here but Reyes recovers full guard.
Bogart seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Reyes leaves Bogart with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Reyes looks for a takedown but Bogart sprawls well.

Reyes shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Bogart napping and manages to drive through into side control!
You can see the frustration on Bogart's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Bogart looks to move to half guard but instead Reyes has passed into mount! Damn!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Reyes tries to close the distance and clinch but Bogart swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and Bogart takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Reyes misses with a series of wild punches.

Reyes shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Reyes was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Reyes wants to stand but Bogart is controlling his arm.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bogart can't do much from the bottom here.
Bogart gets back to half guard.
Bogart wants to get back to full guard.
Bogart wants to get back to full guard but Reyes has mounted him!
Reyes tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.
Reyes prevents Bogart from getting the reversal.
Bogart tries to lock up and control but Reyes gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Bogart is looking to get to half guard.
Bogart tries to hold on but Reyes pushes him away.
Bogart slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Reyes trying to control from half guard but Bogart is working away.
Bogart is looking to escape.
Bogart wants to control but Reyes is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Reyes takes the fight into the clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Reyes is defending well against a takedown attempt.

Bogart fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Bogart avoiding damage as Reyes throws knees to the body.
Reyes is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Bogart pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Reyes fails with a takedown attempt.
Bogart misses with a takedown attempt - Reyes sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Bjorn Bogart. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Reyes moves into the clinch.
Reyes tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Bogart just stands there and leans against the cage.

Bogart is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Reyes can't fight it off and eventually Bogart manages to take the fight to the floor. Reyes looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Reyes keeping moving, preventing Bogart from controlling successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Bjorn Bogart will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



The fight moves into the clinch position.
Reyes wants a takedown.

Bogart gets control of Reyes's arms and successfully pulls guard. Bogart will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Bogart wants to hit a switch here but Reyes passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Bogart there!
Bogart tries to hold on but Reyes postures up.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Bogart is in all sorts of trouble here.
Reyes tries to control but Bogart wriggling away.
BOOM! Reyes connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Bogart tries to lock up and control but Reyes gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Bogart manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Reyes wants to get back to his feet.
Bogart wants to control but Reyes is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Bogart tries to get to full guard but Reyes has control of the leg.

Bogart is trying to maintain the position but Reyes is very close to passing his half guard.
Bogart tries to roll over but Reyes keeps him under control.
Bogart gets back to full guard.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Bogart holds on and takes a little breather.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bogart, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
