PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between David Morrison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jawsh Yeh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Morrison kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Diary of a Madman. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Steve Montenegro and John Roberts.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Morrison crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Yeh - the referee stops the clock and Morrison gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Yeh. Morrison manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Yeh pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Morrison seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.

Morrison decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Morrison passes to side control.
Yeh tries to escape but Morrison is in control.

Morrison is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Yeh knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Yeh manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Yeh trying to control but Morrison postures up.
Yeh told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Morrison is nestled in close to Yeh, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Morrison will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Morrison is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Yeh is just riding it out for now. Morrison eventually gives up the hold.
