Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Joe Penn Reyes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Austin Wheeler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Austin Wheeler is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joe Penn Reyes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Austin Wheeler!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Gregory Folan and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wheeler tries a head kick but it misses.
Wheeler dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Austin Wheeler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Wheeler clinches up with Reyes and pushes him back against the cage.

Wheeler pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Wheeler keeps the fight on the outside.
Reyes swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Wheeler lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Reyes has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Reyes and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Wheeler displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Reyes.
Reyes is breathing heavily.

Wheeler drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Wheeler lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Wheeler is working Reyes over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Wheeler lands a couple of digs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Wheeler is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Wheeler works over Reyes with some ground and pound from guard.

Reyes doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Wheeler stands up over Reyes, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Reyes can't keep his opponent in guard - Wheeler advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Wheeler winds up and cracks Reyes with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Reyes throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Wheeler is taking a breather. Reyes says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Wheeler throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Reyes is refusing to be controlled, as Wheeler sits in half guard.
Well, if Wheeler is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Wheeler stands up from half guard.
Wheeler attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Wheeler misses with a two punch combination.
Wheeler misses with a jab, cross combination.
Wheeler moves out of range of the body kick from Reyes.
Wheeler throws a series of strikes that have Reyes backpedaling.

Wheeler is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Reyes's half guard.
Wheeler is controlling the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Wheeler stands up out of the half guard.

Wheeler forces Reyes back against the cage and clinches.

Wheeler manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Reyes avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Our spies down at at Cozad MMA Montreal inform us that Wheeler has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Wheeler wants to stand up but Reyes is controlling him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Austin Wheeler dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Wheeler throws a nice looking combination but Reyes bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Wheeler has managed to clinch.

Reyes manages to break the clinch.
Wheeler throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Reyes swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Wheeler holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Wheeler's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Reyes slips a jab and a cross from Wheeler.
Reyes takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Wheeler punishes Reyes's body with a nice straight punch.
Wheeler throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Wheeler uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Reyes has time to react.
Reyes takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wheeler cracks Reyes with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Wheeler looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Reyes!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Reyes is looking to reverse the position.
Wheeler is staying tight to Reyes's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Wheeler cracks Reyes with a big right hand but Reyes just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Wheeler tries to move into full mount but can't pass Reyes's legs.

Wheeler is trying to get an arm triangle but Reyes is defending well.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Wheeler has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Reyes takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Reyes is rocked!

Oh Reyes is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wheeler lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Reyes down.
Reyes is not content to let Wheeler control the position.
Reyes takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Wheeler lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Reyes is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Wheeler in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Wheeler thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Wheeler tries for a kimura but Reyes is defending well.

Wheeler cracks Reyes with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Wheeler trying to control the position but Reyes is working away.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Wheeler stands up and beckons Reyes to his feet.

Wheeler darts in and clinches Reyes up against the cage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Austin Wheeler showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!


Wheeler changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Reyes seems to have got his legs back now.
Wheeler looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Wheeler connects with a crisp jab.
Wheeler scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Reyes doesn't seem bothered though.
Wheeler cracks Reyes with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Wheeler throws an overhand right that drops Reyes like a sack of potatoes! Wheeler dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Austin Wheeler!
A relieved looking Austin Wheeler thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
