Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Raphael Oliveira!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ruslan Prudnikov!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Leandro Rodrigues and Edson Gomes.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Prudnikov circles away from the clinch attempt
and Prudnikov counters with a left to the body.
Oliveira wants to clinch
and Prudnikov counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Oliveira on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Oliveira tries to clinch up
and Prudnikov counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Oliveira wants to clinch but Prudnikov slips to the side
letting Prudnikov counter with a right hand.
Oliveira closes the distance looking to clinch
and Prudnikov makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Oliveira moves to clinch but Prudnikov breaks away
and Prudnikov counters with an inside leg kick.
Prudnikov lands a really nice looking cross but Oliveira seems unphased.
Prudnikov connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Prudnikov throws a lazy head kick
and Oliveira counters with a left and a right that stings Prudnikov.
Oliveira swings for the body but Prudnikov moves out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Prudnikov pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Oliveira looks to clinch
and Prudnikov counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Oliveira closes the distance looking to clinch
and Prudnikov counters with a nice uppercut that drops Oliveira onto his backside! Oliveira bounces straight back to his feet before we have a chance to even start the count. He'll get the standing 8 count anyway before we get back underway.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Oliveira walks straight into a perfectly timed right hook, crumpling him to the floor! Oliveira is in all kinds of trouble here - can he beat the count? 3,4,5,6,7,8,9....10 - he's out and it's by a long way too - he didn't ever look like beating that count!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Ruslan Prudnikov!
