PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Britt Guzman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paddy McIrish (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Paddy McIrish was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Britt Guzman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Paddy McIrish!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Robert Douchet and William Peck.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McIrish cracks Guzman with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Guzman tries to move into range but McIrish moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Guzman tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but McIrish paws at him with a jab and circles away.

McIrish fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Guzman, pushing him back against the cage.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from McIrish.

McIrish is trying to trip Guzman. He has hold of a leg but Guzman is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. McIrish persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
McIrish wants to stand but Guzman is controlling his posture from full guard.
McIrish seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
McIrish postures up.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
McIrish's corner is telling him to maintain position.

McIrish gets to his feet. Guzman looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
McIrish tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Guzman manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
McIrish swings and misses with a hook to the body.
No luck with that takedown attempt from McIrish.
McIrish takes a swing at Guzman's ribcage but misses.
Guzman avoids a punch combination nicely.
Guzman fails in his attempt to clinch.
Guzman shoots for a takedown but McIrish saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Guzman tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. McIrish manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Guzman throws a combination but it was largely blocked by McIrish.
Nice shot by McIrish.
McIrish throws a series of punches but Guzman moves out of range.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Guzman takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Guzman is rocked!
McIrish lands hard precision jab right on the jaw that stiffens Guzman up and sends him tumbling to the mat! The ref grabs McIrish from behind before he can pounce. Some folks in the crowd didn't like that stoppage, but I saw Guzman's eyes roll way back in his head, he was done.
