PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan Goldsmith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bobby Tupper V (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Goldsmith comes to the cage accompanied by Dos Equis. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Bobby Tupper V!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Tupper V.

Tupper V darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Tupper V tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Goldsmith is trying to stand.
Goldsmith wants to improve his position but Tupper V is controlling well.
Tupper V wants to stand up but Goldsmith is controlling the position.
Tupper V wants to take a breather but Goldsmith is having none of it.
Tupper V tries to pass to full mount but Goldsmith defends it.
Tupper V seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Tupper V is trying to work for a kimura but Goldsmith is defending well.
Tupper V is thwarting Goldsmith's attempts to control the position.
It looks like Tupper V is going to stand back up.

Tupper V is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Goldsmith sees it coming and defends easily.
Goldsmith keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Tupper V looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Goldsmith wants to control but Tupper V is keeping busy and won't allow it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Tupper V is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Goldsmith has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Tupper V is on him like a limpet, forcing Goldsmith back against the cage.
Goldsmith is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Tupper V wants to get back to striking at distance but Goldsmith won't allow it.

Tupper V breaks from the clinch.
Goldsmith looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Goldsmith takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Tupper V tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Goldsmith is able to avoid easily.
Bobby Tupper V seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tupper V throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Goldsmith falls off balance throwing a combination
and Tupper V counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Goldsmith slaps away a takedown attempt from Tupper V, before circling back to the center of the mat.
A combination from Tupper V does no damage.
Tupper V fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Goldsmith avoids it really well and circles away.
Tupper V fails to land the takedown.
Jonathan Goldsmith has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bobby Tupper V.
Goldsmith lands with a kick to the temple. Tupper V shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?"
Goldsmith slips a jab and a cross from Tupper V.
Sloppy strikes from Tupper V. Those never looked like landing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tupper V throws a series of strikes that have Goldsmith backpedaling.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Tupper V misses with a few strikes there.
Tupper V lands a head shot.
Goldsmith's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Goldsmith duly obliges.


It looks like Bobby Tupper V has been cut.
Goldsmith looks to throw the jab but Tupper V is out of range.
Goldsmith wants to clinch.

Tupper V fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Goldsmith sprawls well initially but Tupper V persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Tupper V not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Goldsmith is trying to stand.

Tupper V is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Goldsmith wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bobby Tupper V dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Bobby Tupper V's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Tupper V with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Goldsmith takes a body punch but keeps moving.

Tupper V lands a left and a right that send Goldsmith crashing to the mat, dazed. Tupper V thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!


Goldsmith is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Goldsmith dodges the punch combination from Tupper V.
Oh Goldsmith is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Tupper V tries to bum rush Goldsmith with a series of wild strikes but Goldsmith uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Tupper V throws a right and a left that both miss.
Tupper V lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Goldsmith circles away quickly and effectively.
Goldsmith misses with a wild combination.
Goldsmith tries a low kick but Tupper V avoids it.
Tupper V looks to land a combination but Goldsmith avoids it well.
Tupper V lands a jab and follows it up with a massive straight that knocks Goldsmith out cold! Goldsmith is crumpled in the corner, his head only propped up by the cage! That's one for the organiziational promos right there! Wow, what a finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Bobby Tupper V!
Bobby Tupper V gave a mention to Fossington & Blythe: Gentlemen's Fight Attire in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
