1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nate Donovan! The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, John Roberts and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Donovan closes the distance and clinches. Sykes wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Sykes prevents Donovan from breaking the clinch. Donovan keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Sykes's efforts to push away. Sykes is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath. Donovan gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Sykes has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Sykes is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Donovan is just riding it out for now. Sykes eventually gives up the hold. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Donovan stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Donovan wants it to stay on the feet. Sykes is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Sykes moves in looking to clinch but Donovan pushes him off. No luck for Sykes with that takedown attempt. Nate Donovan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Donovan clinches with his opponent.

Sykes bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Sykes could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Donovan is looking to reverse the position. Sykes is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Donovan knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Donovan tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Sykes is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Donovan can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
This has been an exciting period of action! Sykes raining down shots from the mount! Donovan is wriggling around trying to escape.

Donovan is trying desperately to improve position. Donovan is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Sykes locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Donovan is forced to tap!
