PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chris Zyb (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Orlin Fernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Zyb's entrance music is "Battle" by Gangstarr. A fine choice. Orlin Fernandez told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fernandez moves into the clinch.

Zyb's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Fernandez takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Fernandez is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Fernandez wants to clinch up but Zyb keeps it at a distance.
Zyb will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Fernandez misses with a double jab.
Zyb tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Zyb lands with a hook. Fernandez tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
A combination from Fernandez does no damage.

Fernandez moves into the clinch successfully.
Fernandez is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Zyb goes for a takedown attempt but Fernandez pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Fernandez avoids a kick to the body.
Zyb pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Fernandez misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Fernandez rushes Zyb and presses him up against the cage.

Fernandez manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Zyb wants to control from the top but Fernandez keeps moving.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Fernandez is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Zyb frees his head nicely. Oh but Fernandez has switched to an armbar! Zyb is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
