Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Sick Puppy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Demarcus Bate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sick Puppy could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Demarcus Bate's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 4 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sick Puppy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Demarcus Bate!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Puppy throws a hook but Bate avoids it easily.
Bate loads up on a big right hand but Puppy slips the punch.
A lazy left from Puppy finds it's target.
Puppy drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Puppy is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Bate's half guard.
Puppy is nestled in close to Bate, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Puppy seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Puppy is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Bate defends it well.
Bate wants to improve his position but Puppy is controlling well.

Puppy takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Bate feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Puppys jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Bate dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Puppy. That did some damage!

No joy there for Puppy, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Puppy throws a big shot that misses.

Puppy shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Bate as he jumps to the side.
Bate shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Puppy pinned against the cage. Puppy gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Bate lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Puppy looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.

Puppy keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Puppy pivots, looking for a leg kick but Bate is out of range and Puppy settles back down.
Bate ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Puppy moves away.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Sick Puppy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Puppy has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bate can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That was a close round but I would say that Sick Puppy will probably get the nod.

Bate fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Puppy has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Puppy wants to clinch up but Bate keeps it at a distance.

Puppy lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bate circles away quickly and effectively.
Bate slaps away a takedown attempt from Puppy, before circling back to the center of the mat.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Demarcus Bate comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Bate has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
