Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alfred Mcguire!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nich DiMagg!
The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Daniel Cesar and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

DiMagg darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Mcguire is looking for a sweep. DiMagg is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

DiMagg is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

DiMagg is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Mcguire defends it well.
DiMagg trying to control from half guard but Mcguire is working away.

DiMagg is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mcguire is staying active underneath DiMagg, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

DiMagg is working for a submission of some sort.
Mcguire really is a fat lump.
DiMagg is pressing down on Mcguire's thigh, looking to free his foot. Mcguire is holding on for now.

DiMagg is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Mcguire sees it coming and defends easily.
Mcguire might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
DiMagg frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

DiMagg goes for an armbar but Mcguire turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Mcguire.
Mcguire would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Mcguire tries to free his leg and advance position but DiMagg is retaining full guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

DiMagg goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Mcguire rolls with the submission and now he's on top in DiMagg's guard! Nice work there by Mcguire!

DiMagg closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - DiMagg lands in his opponent's guard.
Mcguire keeping moving, preventing DiMagg from controlling successfully.
Mcguire pulls DiMagg in to control the position.
DiMagg looking to sit in guard and control but Mcguire gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Mcguire is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

DiMagg escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Mcguire gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Mcguire wants to get up but he can't break DiMagg's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
DiMagg is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Mcguire trying to control the position from guard on top but DiMagg is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mcguire is looking to stand up but DiMagg won't let him.

DiMagg is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Mcguire defends well.

DiMagg wants to sweep here but Mcguire controlling him for the moment.

Mcguire drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and DiMagg dives on top into guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
DiMagg wants to control from the top but Mcguire keeps moving.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by DiMagg.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mcguire wants to get back to his feet but DiMagg drags him back down.
Nich DiMagg has got the better of the ground game so far.

DiMagg tries to move into full mount but can't pass Mcguire's legs.
Mcguire is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, DiMagg asserts his dominance and retains side control.

DiMagg is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mcguire is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

DiMagg tries for a kimura but Mcguire is defending well.

DiMagg is looking to take a break and control but Mcguire is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
What's Mcguire going to do here then? He's in a bit of a pickle.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

DiMagg is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Mcguire has escaped the position, nice work there.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nich DiMagg showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Mcguire throws a right and a left that DiMagg avoids nicely.
Nich DiMagg is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

DiMagg shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mcguire is trying to defend but DiMagg finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

DiMagg is working for a kimura but Mcguire is defending it quite comfortably.

DiMagg is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mcguire is just riding it out for now. DiMagg eventually gives up the hold.

DiMagg moves nicely into side control.

DiMagg is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Mcguire has escaped the position, nice work there.
DiMagg takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Mcguire has one of DiMagg's arms on lockdown, trying to prevent him from doing any damage.
Nich DiMagg is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

DiMagg wants to lay and pray for a moment but Mcguire keeps working.
Mcguire wants to control but DiMagg postures up.

Mcguire is looking to regain half guard here but DiMagg keeps moving and retains side control.
Mcguire manages to get back to half guard.

DiMagg is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Mcguire has managed to free his arm - good work.
Mcguire knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for DiMagg on the ground.

Well DiMagg has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
