PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Troy Lancaster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dack Fayden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Dack Fayden was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Troy Lancaster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dack Fayden!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A swing and a miss from Fayden.
Fayden misses with an uppercut.
Lancaster looks to land a right hand but Fayden moved out of range.
Lancaster is looking to slow Fayden down with leg kicks.
Lancaster tries to clinch but Fayden moves out of range.

Lancaster has closed the distance and engaged Fayden in a clinch.
Lancaster lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Lancaster controlling the action here for a moment.
Lancaster tries to throw a body punch but Fayden avoids it by throwing Lancaster back against the cage.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Fayden has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Lancaster.
Fayden blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Lancaster throws a head punch that misses.
Nice body punch from Lancaster.
Lancaster will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Fayden up against the cage.

Lancaster tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Fayden blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Lancaster blocks an elbow strike.
Lancaster scores with a shoulder strike.
Lancaster lands a nice uppercut.
Lancaster misses with the head strike.
Lancaster is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Lancaster goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Fayden has Lancaster pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Lancaster manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
A nice right hand lands inside from Lancaster.
I was talking to Lancaster's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Lancaster.
Lancaster lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

Fayden tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Lancaster smiles and moves away.
Troy Lancaster has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dack Fayden.
Lancaster connects with a leg kick. Fayden looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Lancaster lands a leg kick that knocks Fayden off balance momentarily.
Fayden gets cracked there but stands up to it.


It looks like Dack Fayden has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lancaster connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Fayden takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Fayden shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lancaster sprawls well. Lancaster wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Fayden gets slowly back to his feet.
Fayden tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lancaster sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Fayden somewhat.
Lancaster fails to land with a series of punches.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lancaster throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Nice jab there from Lancaster.
Lancaster throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Lancaster slips under a jab.
Lancaster lunges at Fayden with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Fayden's hand.
Troy Lancaster is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Lancaster throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Fayden misses with a body shot.
Troy Lancaster seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fayden throws a big shot that misses.
Fayden doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Lancaster uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Lancaster falls off balance throwing a combination
and Fayden counters with a stiff right hand.
Lancaster swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
letting Fayden counter with a right hand.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Nice straight punches there by Lancaster. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Lancaster.
Fayden throws a shot from downtown. Lancaster moves away and avoids it.

Fayden moves away from the strike by Lancaster.
Fayden misses with a looping left.
A telegraphed right hand from Lancaster misses the target.
Lancaster tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
That kick from Lancaster tenderised Fayden's leg. Fayden is trying to keep his angry face on.
Fayden looks for a takedown but Lancaster sprawls well.
A jab lands there for Lancaster.
Lancaster smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Lancaster rushes Fayden and presses him up against the cage.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Lancaster tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Fayden's elbow.

Fayden decides to pull guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Fayden wants to sweep but no luck.
Fayden is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Troy Lancaster dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Dack Fayden's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Fayden moves away from the strike by Lancaster.
Lancaster throws out a loose jab but Fayden uses good head movement to avoid it.
A jab from Fayden misses.
Troy Lancaster is winning the standup battle so far.
Fayden tries for a takedown but Lancaster sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Lancaster throws a head kick that Fayden semi-blocks.
Lancaster rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Fayden moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Lancaster tries to work over Fayden's front leg with a kick but Fayden checks it.
Lancaster scores with a crisp jab that stopped Fayden in his tracks.
Fayden misses the shot to the body.

Lancaster is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Lancaster uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Fayden has time to react.

Lancaster moves into the clinch.

Fayden has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Lancaster regains guard immediately.

Fayden is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Lancaster looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Lancaster is working hard here to advance position.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lancaster can't keep his opponent in guard - Fayden advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Lancaster wants to control but Fayden is keeping busy.

Lancaster is trying to stand back up but Fayden is controlling him

Fayden is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Fayden is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Lancaster doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Fayden.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lancaster misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Fayden not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Fayden wants to control but Lancaster is keeping him busy.
Fayden prevents Lancaster from standing back up.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Fayden in particular looking to stall.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lancaster blocking the ground and pound attempt from Fayden.

Lancaster wants to improve his position but Fayden is controlling well.
Lancaster knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fayden on the ground.
Fayden is trying to control the action in half guard but Lancaster is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Lancaster wants to get back to his feet.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Fayden seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Lancaster has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Fayden is working away from the top position though.
Fayden passes to side control.
Lancaster throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Lancaster wants to get back to his feet.

Lancaster is looking for a sweep.
Fayden tries to move to mount but Lancaster blocks the move with his legs.
Lancaster is trying to control Fayden's posture but Fayden avoids it.
Fayden prevents Lancaster from escaping the position.
Lancaster wants to control but Fayden postures up.
Lancaster is looking to get back to his feet here but Fayden is keeping cool and he's managed to take Lancaster's back.

Fayden tightening his grip on Lancaster, looking for the choke.
This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Troy Lancaster will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Dack Fayden's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Lancaster tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Fayden chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Lancaster can pounce on him.
Fayden takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Fayden moves out of range of the strikes.
Fayden misses with a wild combination.
The fighters circle momentarily. Lancaster darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Lancaster lands the left hand.
Fayden takes one to the side of the head.


Fayden is rocked!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Fayden fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Lancaster is out of range.
Fayden throws a jab when Lancaster was well out of range.
Fayden keeps the fight on the outside.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Lancaster throws a nice outside leg kick.
Lancaster throws out a leg kick but Fayden moves out of range and Lancaster only half commits.
Lancaster takes a body punch but keeps moving.
That kick from Lancaster tenderised Fayden's leg. Fayden is trying to keep his angry face on.

Lancaster sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Fayden to the ground! Lancaster dives into full mount looking to finish!
Fayden is still in real trouble! Can Lancaster finish him?


That has opened up Dack Fayden's cut even more.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lancaster with a couple of short strikes.
Lancaster unloads with some vicious shots from mount and Fayden wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Lancaster celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:46 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Troy Lancaster!
