PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nate Barnes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack White (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Barnes comes to the cage accompanied by Black Eyed Peas - Imma Be. White has chosen If You Want Blood as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 33 - 22 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Nate Barnes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 5 - 1, fighting out of London, Jack White!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Andrew Berry and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnes tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but White was well out of range. Poor timing from Barnes.
White throws a body punch but Barnes moves out of range.
Jack White seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Barnes dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Barnes swings widly with a right hand
and White counters with a good, hard body kick but Barnes shrugs it off.
White misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Barnes.
White just misses with a punch to the body.
White shoots for a double leg takedown but Barnes sprawls well. He's pushed White's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
White checks a leg kick nicely.
Barnes lands a leg kick that knocks White off balance momentarily.

White moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
White throws a solid leg kick but Barnes takes the impact on his shin and smiles at White.

White drops Barnes with a nice combination! White dives into Barnes's guard, looking to finish!


It looks like Nate Barnes has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Barnes wants to sweep here but White controlling him for the moment.
White pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Barnes is keeping the position for now.

Barnes lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

We've been hearing good reports from Barnes's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Barnes wants to get up but he can't break White's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Nate Barnes is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

White darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Barnes wants to control but White is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
White stands and throws Barnes's legs to the side, diving into side control.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

White is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Barnes rather than just go for the knockout.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
White tries for a takedown but Barnes sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Nate Barnes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack White.

White lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

White throws a front kick that sends Barnes stumbling back into the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
White's corner calls for a 1-2. White obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Jack White will probably get the nod - 10:9.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

White closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Barnes's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Barnes is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Barnes is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because White is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
White throws a strike but Barnes rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
White has control of Barnes's left arm, preventing Barnes from doing any damage.

Jack White comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well White has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
