Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Guilherme Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alves comes to the cage accompanied by Guerreiro by Curumin. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shields misses with a looping right.
Shields throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Alves.
Shields jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Shields looks to land a left hand but Alves moved out of range nicely.
Shields goes for a double leg but Alves avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Alves continues to drive forward.

Alves has clasped his hands together around Shields's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Shields is looking to reverse the position.
Shields stops Alves from passing to mount.
Alves works to advance to full mount. Shields defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Shields is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Shields is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Alves fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Alves postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Shields looks a forlorn figure.

It looks like Jake Shields has been cut.

Alves is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Shields can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
