Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Cain Cormeir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Philmore Butts!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Alec Ball and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cormeir wants to clinch up but Butts keeps it at a distance.
Cormeir has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Butts leaves Cormeir with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Cormeir takes one on the button.

Cormeir is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Butts gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Butts is looking to break free of the clinch but Cormeir has double underhooks.
Cormeir is trying to drag Butts to the mat but Butts just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Cormeir drops down looking for an ankle pick but Butts pulls his leg out and moves away.
Cormeir shoots in looking for a takedown but Butts manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Cormeir's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cormeir is defended easily by Butts.
Butts throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Cormeir closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Butts to the mat! Butts manages to get full guard.
Butts wants to stand and escape but Cormeir is having none of it.
Cormeir postures up in Butts's guard and throws a big left but Butts blocks it.
Cormeir working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Butts wants to get back to his feet but Cormeir is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Cormeir scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Butts can do anything to dispel that myth.

Cormeir throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Butts works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Cormeir connects with a couple of short punches.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Cormeir's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Cormeir cracks Butts with a solid left hand.
Cormeir stands up over Butts, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Butts is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Cormeir is controlling him.
Cormeir lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Cormeir trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Butts is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Cormeir is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cormeir lands a couple of digs.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Cain Cormeir dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Cormeir looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Butts!
Butts takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Cormeir cracks Butts with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Cormeir immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Butts is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Cormeir!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:32 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cain Cormeir!
A relieved looking Cain Cormeir thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
